We All Meet Up In Amsterdam

Finally, after 36 hours of air travel, I meet up with Helen and Gwen at the central train station in Amsterdam. I'm pleased that I don't need to sit on a plane any more.

Also between leaving home in perfect health, and arriving in Amsterdam, I seem to have caught a cold, not unusual for me when travelling, planes are a breeding ground for colds and flus and I'm a magnet for these bugs.

To find our accommodation, we need to catch a tram to Artis (which is Zoo) and then a short walk to our place, which is straight across the road from the Zoo. The house is really old, and lovely, with a small balcony over the street. Most importantly, it has a bed which is a priority for me.

I catch a couple of hours snooze, before Helen wakes me up so we can wander down the road for dinner. There is plenty of variety of where to eat just nearbby, and we find a lovely little Pizza restaurant just down the road. Here's a small selection of photos from this neighbourhood.

Tomorrow we have a free day, to generally look around the town with no set agenda. From what I've seen so far, there will be plenty to see and do, and I can't wait.
