Paris Day 2 - Part 2

Mum and I have had the most amazing afternoon today.

Last year I came across a website called Stitching up Paris.  Barbara is an kiwi living in Paris, and she does tours through knitting, fabric, embroidery, haberdashery, and notions shops.  I could hardly believe I had come across such an amazing opportunity, so booked in mid 2016.  Barbara also has a book she wrote with Keiry Belton, another kiwi who lived in Paris.  The book is called Stitching Up Paris, and can be purchased from most good bookstores including Minerva in Wellington.  For anyone who is planning a trip to Paris, make sure you book this tour, it will give you an amazing afternoon seeing parts of Paris you would not see otherwise.  I would also recommend you leave the husband behind, but make sure you have the credit card!!!

So the afternoon had finally arrived.  Barbara meet us at the apartment and we headed off to the metro for an afternoon of fun and spending.

The first stop was a tapestry shop, where the owner hand paints the tapestry canvas' and makes a kit.  It is called Annie Bouquet.  The minute I walked in the shop I found a lovely little tapestry kit with silk threads, it wasn't long before the wallet was out.

The next stop was Ultramod, we spent some time in here and mum managed to get the wallet out for some binding she had on her list.  Ultramod also had another shop across the road that they open up if at request.  Here I found the most amazing colours of grosgrain.  I decided on a 2 metre cut of a soft green 2inch width to go on a mini quilt I have in mind.

From Ultramod we headed into the wholesale district where they sell fabric, mum had a great time looking at bridal fabrics and lace.  She was very well behaved and only purchased one lot of lace.

The second to last stop was Sajou, this place was amazing.  I could have spent hours in here, and the attendant was just so helpful.  I managed to purchase some Gutermann fabric here.  The threads and threads kits they sold were out of this world, it was hard not to purchase a few of everything!!!!

The last stop of the day was at La Droguerie where we had a good look around, a I was tempted to yet again purchase everything in the store, but managed to control myself.

To Barbara, thank you so much for making this day so special, you have made this trip to Paris so memorable and unique.
