Today promises to be a bit more relaxed, with the rain settling in and my jet lag lingering. As a result, we've made the decision to spend the morning at Ikea, exploring furniture options for Mum's place. It's a cozy and productive way to make the most of the day while taking it easy.
We arrived at Ikea right when it opened, and it was relatively quiet at first. To kick off our morning, we indulged in a bacon roll each (minus the roll for me) before embarking on a leisurely stroll through the main display floor. It's remarkable how quickly two hours can slip away while perusing and testing out furniture.
The first item that caught Mum's eye was a lovely bookshelf for her sewing room—the Havsta Shelving Unit with plinth. It's always rewarding to find the perfect pieces that fit both style and functionality in a furniture store like Ikea.
Following the bookshelf for her sewing room, Mum had her sights set on the LOMMARP Cabinet for her dining room. What made it even more appealing was the beautiful Light Beige colour it came in. It sounds like she's making some excellent choices for her home furnishings. To complete the shopping list, we looked into the Trotten electric height adjustable desk, which is intended to replace her current work table in the sewing room. This addition should add versatility and comfort to the sewing workspace, making it an excellent choice. Mum is making some long overdue updates to her home sewing space.
I couldn't resist picking up a few odds and ends that could fit into my suitcase while we were at Ikea. But I must say, when Ikea finally opens in New Zealand, I have a feeling I'll be doing some major shopping!
After a relaxing afternoon back at the camp, we had plans to enjoy dinner with an old work colleague from my time living in Edinburgh. It was a wonderful opportunity to catch up with Mr. Trotter after so many years. While we've stayed in touch via Facebook, being able to spend an evening sharing stories of our time at SASA over a good meal at Toby Carvery was truly enjoyable and brought back many fond memories, thanks Andrew for coming out.
