Today's journey from Scone to Craigellachie is set to be a scenic drive spanning approximately 4 hours. Craigellachie holds a special place in my heart, as it's nestled in the heart of Speyside Whisky Country—a destination I cherish dearly. The route is picturesque, with opportunities to pause along the way and capture some stunning photos of the landscape. Traveling through such beautiful terrain adds a touch of magic to the journey.
Our first stop as we enter Whisky Country is at Glenlivet. It's quite remarkable how the distillery has changed since my last visit 16 years ago. While there might not be enough time for a tour today, I did manage to drop in and pick up a souvenir glass, along with a couple of wee bottles of a distillery special single malt. It's always nice to bring a piece of the experience back with you and savour the flavours of a later date.
Next up on our journey is a visit to the Walkers Shortbread Factory Shop in Aberlour. Sampling some traditional Scottish shortbread is a delightful way to savour the local flavours Oh how I have been holding out for some good shortbread for months, and Walkers is still just flour, butter and salt, no emulsifiers in here!
