"And now for something completely different".
Our first stop, Doune, was not an intended one. The GPS unit brought us through Doune on some winding B roads, on the way to Fort William. Doune Castle is renowned as the castle used in Monty Python's Meaning of Life. We were about 1/2 an hour too early for opening, so cruised some back roads and went further down river for a different view of the castle. We returned at opening time for a look around.
It was cold, and wet, and actually the castle is mostly just ruins, although the Great Hall was a bit more civilised. This is no doubt the first of many castles we will see this weekend.
Well no time to waste. We have a big day ahead. Next stop, Fort William.
