We drove to a small town called Dereham which is only 10km from home. The main street is very narrow and lined with shops, which then opens up into a wider area with a car park.
Today there were farmers markets on where locals sell things such as produce, flowers and clothing.
We stopped in at various stores including the Post Office, bank, and Vodafone to get us set for our stay here. The main street was busy on this Friday morning with everyone doing their thing.
Our rental car had low air in one tyre, we had been getting warnings on the dashboard since we picked the car up, so we stopped at a BP to fill it up, and it cost us 50p to get some air! We are so lucky such things are free in New Zealand.
Closer to home, we visited two supermarkets, M&S and Sainsbury's, and stocked up on everything we needed / wanted.
I went for a walk around the neighbourhood in the afternoon, there are lots of building sites for new homes, interesting to see they have a layer of bricks, a layer of insulation and another layer of bricks. The walls of each house are about 40cm thick!
The rest of the day was fairly relaxing, at home, watching TV and settling in. A different type of holiday to the usual busy travelling.
