We had visited Royal Yacht Britannia in December and got a year pass. We only saw 2/3 of the tour then, so today we returned to see the rest.
We picked up where we left off, and went down to where the non-commissioned officers messes are, along with sleeping areas. Quite comfortable indeed!
Further along is where the Marines sleep and live. This was basic but reasonably spacious.
Many of the lockers had stickers on, probably from other ships the crew had visited or worked on. I noticed this one of interest from HMNZS Waikato.
From there, we saw the hospital / surgery, post office and galley.
Finally on this level we exited past the laundry which was surprisingly large, but I guess the ship would have had a lot of uniforms to keep looking perfect.
We then went down to the water line, to enter and see the engine room. Closed off, and viewed through glass, it looked like a museum piece, with everything shiny and spotless, most impressive. Apparently it's always been kept this tidy. A sight to be seen.
That concludes our tour. Definitely would have been an impressive ship in its day. It's still grand today and very well presented.
