Helen had been to Chester before, and wanted to take me there as she thought I would like it. I did. We parked in a parking building, then headed into the shopping area on foot. It's a lovely town. We would have described the predominant building style here as tudor, however according to Wikipedia "much of Chester's architecture dates from the Victorian era, many of the buildings being modelled on the Jacobean half-timbered style". You make up your own mind....
I picked up a stick of rock for a workmate, which is apparently the done thing. Like our car, we were running on empty as we'd not eaten breakfast. We found a lovely pub called Duttons down a lane, just before midday, and beat the rush. We were treated to great food and friendly service. From there, we walked up the main road to the town wall, and climbed the steps for a quick look around.
We didn't feel like we had a great deal of time to spare, with bigger things in mind, so wandered back to the car and were on our way.
