Manchester, Here We Come

We're off on a 5 day tour of the Peak District.

Tonight, we hopped on the train down to Manchester. We were booked on the 6:11pm out of Edinburgh on First TransPannine, in the luxury of first class. The trip took 3 hours, and was very comfortable with a large table and power supplies, we were able to use our laptops to pass the time. Oh and we got served sandwiches and a piece of cake and a drink. My oh my we are spoiled!

We alighted at Manchester Piccadilly, and from there it was about a 15 minute walk to our hotel for the night. We got a little disoriented at first (I wouldn't go so far as saying lost :-) but ended up walking through Canal Street once back on track. This was lined with bars and restaurants, and is apparently the centre of the Manchester gay and lesbian district. I can't say I noticed although Helen did.

From what we saw, Manchester seemed like a nice clean city and felt safe to walk through at night. So unsurprisingly we found our hotel safely and headed off to bed in anticipation of the day ahead.
