San Diego has the biggest Navy port in the US, we got to see just a little of it, they have a floating museum which is a retired aircraft carrier called the USS Midway,
we ended up spending a good part of our day there, having a good look around, the view from the deck was amazing. Right opposite the USS Midway we got to see some some of the current Navy fleet, the USS Nimitz, and the USS Reagan, along with there two supply ships docked next to them. The day was perfect the weather amazing, the harbour was full of sailing ships, we got to see USA 11 (Stars & Stripes) an America's cup boat from the 1992 America’s Cup challenge and USA 76 (Oracle/BMW)an America's cup boat from the 2003 America’s Cup challenge. There was also another sailing ship in the harbour something a bit older pictured below with the USS Reagan and USS Nimitz behind it.
The USS Midway, showed off all of the aircraft that ever left it's decks in the 47 years it was in service. There were guides every where showing you all parts of the ship (most of the guides were ex crew with loads of stories), the aircraft, and there was a tour of the bridge that Peter and Mike went on, see below a picture of Mike (you can also see Peter on the left) on the tour about to go onto the bridge
The tour guy said that they had had there 3 millionth customer only a few weeks back, and took 4000 visitors today.
