The cruise ship terminal is actually quite a walk from Venice itself, and very confusing on foot, but we eventually found our way to the Vaporetto (water bus) and purchased a 24 hour pass.
We initially took the long way around to St Marco Square (past our ship) and saw our sister ship Niew Amsterdam parked on the next terminal over from ours.
Once at St Marco Square, we generally wandered around and took lots of photos, and went on the usual "walk through some streets and get lost" which is always fun in Venice.
By now it was getting on sunset and more photo opportunities. Helen talked me into having a nice dessert drink on the square itself, a big treat, with musicians playing and the best view in town. The drinks were nice too, which they should be, the bill for these two was 43 euro!!!!!!!
We had intentionally brought the tripod along this evening so I took advantage to get some nice night photos. I enjoy night photography because I can capture things that cannot be captured the same during the day, also there are a lot less people around. Here's some samples.
We then took a water bus to Rialto bridge for more photography. By now it was late, the grand canal was quiet, and very dark, and not many people around. We went for a walk here too, before catching another water bus back to the ship, arriving back around 11pm. A big day for us.
