It has been sometime since we have been to the potteries, I think it was 1992 we last visited.
The drive today is a 1 hour 40 minutes and back on the M5, here's hoping the traffic is better. We will be traveling through Birmingham to Stone, to start with.
The drive through Birmingham on the motorway was really interesting, the city is huge and the motorway is basically just flyovers to get you through the city quicker I guess.
The first store we are heading for is Dunoon in Stone. There is parking off the main high street where the store is, I have to say the parking charges aren't too bad, 60p for an hour, better than that of NZ.
From there we headed into Stoke proper. There are not as many potteries as I remember, but I really do enjoy the smaller places, they have the best bargins and really the nicer stuff.
The biggest tourist attraction of course is the Wedgewood and Royal Doulton outlet stores. We didn't find much of interest here, most of it seemed to be the same price as in the stores, but I did get a couple of nic-nacs for Christmas presents.
The drive back wasn't too bad to the cottage, all in all we had a great day.

I love Stone, my Mum goes there a lot, so will be definitely visiting there at Christmas as we know lots of people who live there too xx
