A picture is worth a thousand words.
Actually it has been a tense and stressful day. Apart from getting some more sights in (which we will blog eventually) by mid afternoon we were back in the hotel because our luggage had not arrived.
It had become apparent to us that although the suitcase had arrived the previous evening at Istanbul Airport, and they promised urgent delivery, it is now Saturday. With the luggage not delivered, we might not see it until Monday.
Helen and I have been calling any phone number we can get our hands on, related to Turkish Airlines and TGS (Turkish Ground Services) and to no avail. We've even had the front desk at the hotel calling, using their fluent Turkish to kick some butt, and I've been emailing the airline also.
Having given up on the suitcase until Monday, tonight we went out to the Grand Bazaar and bought Helen some new clothes (you'll see her wearing one in this photo). Murphy's Law - within a few hours of buying clothes, and hand washing all her stinky clothes she's been wearing for six days, the suitcase turned up. One of our phone calls or emails must have made an impact.
So Helen's happy (and so am I !!!) and tomorrow we can get back to enjoying our holiday.
